As a planning and development specialist, Molly assists clients with all aspects of entitlement work, including due diligence, rezoning, special exception and comprehensive plan amendment applications.
Molly focuses her work in the town of Leesburg and city of Fairfax, as well as in Loudoun and Fairfax counties. She works with land owners and developers on significant mixed-use projects as well as single-use and smaller infill projects.
Significant Projects:
- Springfield Town Center – conversion of 85-acre suburban shopping mall into transit-oriented, mixed- use development containing up to 2,800 residential units, 1 million sq. ft. of office, 450 hotel rooms and 2 million sq. ft. of retail.
- Dulles World Center – entitlement of 80-acre, 5.7 million sq. ft. mixed-use Town Center located on the Loudoun/Fairfax county line.
- Tuscarora Crossing – entitlement of 250 acres of raw land on Leesburg's eastern boundary into a mixed- use community with nearly 500 homes and 1.2 million sq. ft. of office and light industrial uses.
- Cascades Overlook – entitlement of a former church property into a mixed-use development in Sterling, Virginia, to allow 150 multifamily units supported by 151,000 sq. ft. of commercial development including a new Harris Teeter grocery store.
- Penn Daw Plaza – redevelopment of suburban shopping center into a mixed-use community of 450 residential units with ground floor retail in Alexandria, Virginia.
- Fairfax Circle – redevelopment of suburban shopping center into a mixed-use community of 400 residential units with grocery-anchored, ground floor retail in Fairfax City, Virginia.
- Lowe's Home Improvement Centers – entitlement of 25 acres in the Town of Leesburg for a standalone Lowe's with 120,000 sq. ft. of supportive commercial development. Replacement of a vacant K-Mart in the City of Fairfax with a new Lowe's store.
Before joining Curata, Molly was managing editor of Leesburg Today where she reported on development applications and the land use review process in Leesburg and Loudoun County.
Molly received her Masters of Journalism from Northwestern's Medill School of Journalism in 2004 and her BS from Bowdoin College in 2000.
